Carlucci Offers Free Child Safe Cards

Clarkstown Town Clerk David Carlucci will be combining the Town Clerk’s mobile office in September with Operation Safe Child, a free digital fingerprinting program available for all children under the age of 18. This important identification program is done through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. In addition to being able to provide important details to police agencies investigating child disappearances, the New York State SAFE CHILD Card will serve as an important tool when used in conjunction with the New York State AMBER Alert and Missing Child Alert programs. These cards will allow essential missing child information to be electronically disseminated statewide within minutes and dramatically increase the possibility of bringing a missing child home unharmed.
Carlucci stated that statistics show that 34% of parents in the U.S. do not know their child’s exact height, weight, and eye color! Therefore, obtaining a SAFE CHILD Card is a proactive step parents can take to ensure the safety of their children. Carlucci chose the Nanuet Library, as it is a comfortable setting for children. “So get a book for your kids and a SAFE CHILD Card at the same time. Enrich their minds, while taking a proactive step in their safety,” advised Carlucci.
Parents interested in obtaining a SAFE CHILD Card should bring their child to the next mobile office, provide basic biographical information about their child, whereupon a fingerprint image of both index fingers will be taken, along with a high resolution photograph. The card can be made in less than two minutes and can be easily carried in a wallet or pocketbook.
This great service will be at the Town Clerk’s mobile office location on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at the Nanuet Public Library on Church Street, from 12PM – 3PM. Representatives from Operation Safe Child will be present to answer questions and process SAFE CHILD Cards. Forms and applications will be available, free notary services, dog licenses and handicapped parking tags will be issued. For further information, please call Clarkstown Town Clerk David Carlucci at (845) 639-2010 or visit www.clarkstownclerk.com.
